How We Track and Care for Your Possessions

Where do you start when your home and possessions have been hit by a fire, smoke, water, sewage or storm disaster? There’s damage to your home to be repaired, and most likely, damage to your furniture and personal items, too. A phone call to SERVPRO of Manchester/Mansfield will begin the process of restoring your home and possessions.
It can be difficult to see everything you own packed up and removed from your home. That’s why SERVPRO® recently upgraded its inventory system and processes. Now, your possessions are securely tracked—end-to-end—while we clean and store them and repair your home. The heart of our process is a computer-based tracking system that shows at a glance exactly where in our warehouse your items are and what work has been or needs to be done to fully restore them.
We Care for All Your Possessions
SERVPRO will take care of 100% of the items in your home, both what needs restoration and what requires storage only. Once our project manager has scoped out the scale of work to be done on the structure, he or she determines what needs to be done to restore each item. Then, our crew individually labels everything with your name and unique QR-code, then photographs each item. Next, we securely wrap the objects: furniture in blankets and plastic wrap, glass in bubble wrap and plastic wrap, etc. We box your smaller personal items, then photograph and label them.
You are there to witness the entire process. Once all is wrapped, boxed and loaded into storage containers or vaults (the container, too, is labeled and QR-coded), you sign off on a form listing all the items with the pre-wrap photos. (This list will also provide valuable information to expedite your insurance claim.)
We Maintain an Unbroken Chain of Custody
The whole time we are storing and cleaning your possessions, we ensure an unbroken chain of custody. With a scan of the QR code, SERVPRO staff can immediately tell where an item is. We’ll know if the item requires cleaning, is being cleaned, has been cleaned (and when) or is waiting in a secure storage container. (SERVPRO contracts with trusted specialty cleaners to restore certain items, such as smoke-damaged clothing, or unique possessions, such as pianos or pool tables.)
At our centralized warehouse and processing facility in Bloomfield (built in 2015 and one of the largest SERVPRO warehouses in the U.S.), we dedicate multiple large rooms solely to storage. If a homeowner needs to access items early—documents required for insurance claims or the contents of a room that’s ready to be set up, for example—our inventory system quickly shows us exactly where they are.
Finally, after your home has been restored to pre-damage condition and all your items have been returned, you review and sign off on the original tracking form to ensure that everything is present, clean and in good condition.
